Intel unveils new chips and software app store

- Intel Corp on Tuesday introduced a pair of new Atom processors and announced the full launch of an application store for laptops at its San Francisco developer conference.

The chipmaker launched the Atom E600 chip, codenamed Tunnel Creek, developed for use in car entertainment, Internet phones, and smart grid devices.

It also outlined a future Atom CE4200 processor, also known as Groveland, to integrate Internet functions into TV sets.

The chip giant and Adobe Systems Inc also announced plans to offer the Adobe Air platform to developers creating applications for the Intel AppUp store.

Santa Clara, California-based Intel said the store, which went into a public beta in January, will be pre-installed in netbooks sold by U.S. electronics retailer Best Buy, the UK's Dixons and India's Croma.
